Grizzlies' Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee) will not be ready for start of season
Memphis Grizzlies power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee) will not be ready for the start of the season, per Grizzlies Executive Vice President of basketball operations Zach Kleinman.
Jackson is still recovering from August surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Kleinman said that Jackson will "be out a minute" but didn't offer any sense of a timeline. Brandon Clarke should benefit the most while Jackson is out and there also may be a larger role for Jonas Valanciunas. Kleinman also announced that Justise Winslow (hip) is expected to return "early this season."
Jackson averaged 36.9 FanDuel points over three games in the bubble with 25.3 points, 1.3 steals, 1.7 blocks, and 3.3 3-pointers per contest. He shot 39.4 percent from beyond the arc last year on 6.5 attempts per game and finished top-10 in block percentage for a second consecutive season.
