Nets' Nicolas Claxton praised for performance
Brooklyn Nets power forward Nicolas Claxton received praise from head coach Steve Nash for his play.
“Nic’s energy was outstanding. Hasn’t played for about a year, so to play these last two games and for him to be as disruptive as he was — I think he had four steals and two blocks, [he] assists, he rebounds," Nash said after 129-92 win over the Orlando Magic. "He’s somebody we believe in and think he’s got a lot of upside, continue to grow and just take it step-by-step. But I was impressed and really happy that he had success out there.” Playing in his second game of the season, Claxton scored 10 points (4-of-7 field goals, 2-of-3 free throws) with 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals, and 2 blocks. The 21-year-old center could earn a larger role over the second half of the season and take minutes away from DeAndre Jordan.
Claxton is averaging 1.5 FanDuel points per minute through his first two appearances. He has a 123 offensive rating and is the only player on the Nets with a defensive rating below 100.
