Woj: Blake Griffin, Pistons agree to buyout

The Detroit Pistons and forward/center Blake Griffin have agreed to a contract buyout, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

What It Means:

Griffin, who played his final game for the Pistons on February 12, will now become an unrestricted free agent. Woj says Griffin "has interest from most of the NBA's top playoff contenders" and specifically listed the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, and Portland Trail Blazers as potential suitors.

Griffin averaged a career-low 12.3 points in 31.3 minutes per game for the Pistons while shooting 36.5 percent from the field. He was a 50.2 percent shooter over his first 10 seasons but is connecting on just 35.8 percent the last two years. Griffin has also suffered on the other side of the ball, with a defensive rating of 114 and 115 the last two seasons, compared to 106 for his career.
