Meyers Leonard to be away from Heat indefinitely following use of anti-Semitic slur
Miami Heat forward/center Meyers Leonard will be away from the team indefinitely following his use of an anti-Semitic slur on a live stream, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Leonard used the slur during a live stream this week and will remain away from the team indefinitely at their request. He is under investigation by the NBA and Miami is fully cooperating with the league in their efforts. The Heat released a statement tonight stating that they "vehemently condemn the use of any form of hate speech. The words used by Meyers Leonard were wrong and we will not tolerate hateful language from anyone associated with our franchise. To hear it from a Miami player is especially disappointing and hurtful to all those who work here, as well as the larger south Florida, Miami Heat, and NBA communities".
