Hornets' Spencer Hawes diagnosed with MCL sprain
Charlotte Hornets forward/center Spencer Hawes has been diagnosed with a right MCL sprain, and he will miss at least the next week of action.
Hawes will obviously miss Friday's Game 6 against the Miami Heat, and he's going to be re-evaluated in one week, although it wouldn't be surprising at all to see his absence extend beyond that one-week timeline. Tyler Hansbrough, Cody Zeller and Frank Kaminsky should pick up some extra minutes in Hawes' absence.
Hawes owned a -0.4 nERD in the regular season, which ranked 84th, and he averaged 6.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in 57 games played. Hawes has averaged just 10.7 minutes in the first five games of the series against the Heat, putting up 3.6 points and hauling down 3.2 rebounds.
