The Pelicans will waive newly acquired Omri Casspi
The New Orleans Pelicans will waive injured forward Omri Casspi (thumb) in order to sign forward Reggie Williams.
What It Means:
Casspi, acquired in the DeMarcus Cousins trade, broke his thumb in his Pelicans debut on Thursday and is expected to miss the next four-to-six weeks. Instead of holding onto the roster spot, the Pels are signing Williams to help out on the wing.
Williams appeared in five games for New Orleans earlier this season, averaging 5.0 points and 1.2 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game.
