Mavericks trade A.J. Hammons in deal with Heat
The Dallas Mavericks have sent center A.J. Hammons to the Miami Heat for Josh McRoberts and a 2023 second-rounder.
In the process of taking on McRoberts' contract, the Mavericks also acquire a valuable future pick while giving up a second-year big man in Hammons. The Heat will likely waive Hammons, having accomplished their goal of salary relief.
In his rookie year, Hammons appeared in just 22 games, averaging 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per outing.
