Hawks acquire Richard Jefferson from Cavaliers
The Atlanta Hawks have acquired veteran forward Richard Jefferson in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In the deal, Cleveland sends Jefferson, point guard Kay Felder as well as two second-round picks and cash to Atlanta. In exchange, the Cavaliers obtain the rights to Dimitrios Agravanis and Sergii Gladyr, in addition to saving $12.8 million in luxury tax. The Cavaliers have also created two trade exceptions with the move. Jefferson is likely to be bought out by Atlanta, and he can't re-sign with Cleveland this season.
In 20.4 minutes per game, Jefferson averaged 5.7 points and 2.6 rebounds over 79 games and 13 starts last season. At 37, he is entering his 16th season in the NBA.
