College Basketball Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 11/11/19

Jordan Ford and the Saint Mary's Gaels are in a phenomenal spot on Monday. Which other players should we be targeting?

College basketball season is upon us, and we have a four-game slate tonight.

March Madness is months away, but you can get in all the college hoops hype by playing daily contests at FanDuel today. If you've played NBA DFS before, it's quite simple: pick a total of eight players -- four guards, three forwards and one utility spot you can use for either position. Stay within the $50,000 salary cap and field the team you think will score the most fantasy points.

Where scoring differs from NBA is in the blocks and steals categories, with each worth two FanDuel points apiece rather than the three you get in daily NBA contests.

Now that you're in the know, we can attack today's main slate, which locks at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Which players should you be targeting, and why?

Guards

Charlie Moore, DePaul ($3,400) – In three games this season, Moore is averaging a team-high 19.3 points per game for the DePaul Blue Demons. He's also averaging 5.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and a steal. He's clearly underpriced tonight and will likely be the highest rostered player.

Savion Flagg, Texas A&M ($8,000) - Flagg emerged as one of the Texas A&M Aggies' best player last season as he averaged nearly 14 points and 7.7 rebounds. With key contributors Josh Nebo and TJ Starks expected to miss a few weeks, Flagg is tasked with carrying the Aggies' offense. The junior scored 22 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, recorded 2 steals, and blocked 3 shots in 35 minutes of action in the Aggies' season opener.

Jordan Ford, Saint Mary's ($7,600) - Ford played all 45 minutes of the Saint Mary's (CA) Gaels' season opening overtime win over Wisconsin. The senior guard scored 26 points, grabbed 2 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, and recorded 3 steals. Ford hoisted up 24 shots, which was 11 more than any of his teammates. He averaged 21.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 steals a season ago.

Scottie Pippen Jr., Vanderbilt ($4,900) - The son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen is a freshman starter for the Vanderbilt Commodores. The younger Pippen is known for his athleticism. In the Commodores' exhibition game, Pippen Jr scored 15 points, dished out 6 assists, grabbed 3 rebounds, and recorded 4 steals. He followed that up with seven points, two rebounds, six assists, and two steals in Vanderbilt's season opener.

Forwards

Paul Reed, DePaul ($7,400) - Reed averaged 12.3 points per game last season and led the Big East Conference in rebounding (averaged 8.5 rebounds per game). Through three games this season, the big man is stuffing the stat sheet, as he's averaging 11.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.3 steals. The junior is one of the top forwards on tonight's four-game slate.

Malik Fitts, Saint Mary's ($7,000) - Fitts forms quite a one-two punch with teammate Jordan Ford. In 39 minutes of action in the Gaels' season opener, Fitts scored 16 points with 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block. After facing off with Wisconsin (24th in Ken Pom's adjusted defense rating) in the season opener, tonight's matchup with the Winthrop Eagles is significantly easier. The Eagles are ranked 189th in the country in Ken Pom's adjusted defense rating.

Luka Garza, Iowa ($6,800) - Expectations were high for the Hawkeyes' center to become the team's best player and focal point on offense. The junior was dominant in the team's season opener. In only 26 minutes of action, Garza scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in an 87-60 win over the Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Cougars. Expect his minutes to creep up around 30 with tonight's matchup with DePaul expected to be more competitive.

Aaron Nesmith, Vanderbilt ($6,700) - Nesmith was named to the preseason All-SEC Second Team by league coaches prior to the season. In 33 minutes of game time, the rising sophomore dropped 25 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 2 assists, blocked a shot, and recorded a steal in Vanderbilt's season opener. Nesmith will be counted on as one of the Commodores' primary scoring options this season.

Joe Wieskamp, Iowa ($6,400) – Wieskamp arrived in Iowa City as one of the highest-rated Iowa Hawkeyes recruits in recent years. The shooting guard did not disappoint as he averaged 11.1 points, nearly 5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists as a freshman a season ago. Entering his sophomore campaign, Wieskamp was named to the preseason All-Big Ten team. In the Hawkeyes' season opener, Wieskamp scored 16 points, corralled 4 rebounds, assisted on 2 baskets, blocked a shot, and recorded 2 steals.

Clevon Brown, Vanderbilt ($4,900) - The senior center is a good offensive rebounder and a defensive stopper. Pegged as a potential breakout player in head coach Jerry Stackhouse's new offense, Brown scored 15 points, recorded 8 rebounds, and blocked 2 shots in the Commodores' season opener. He's underpriced for his starting role, rebounding, and shot blocking ability.
