College Football Daily Fantasy Helper: Thursday 10/8/20 Single-Game Slate

Clayton Tune and the Houston offense are in a great spot on Thursday night. Which players should you consider rostering on FanDuel?

Week 6 of the college football season continues Thursday night as the Houston Cougars play host to the Tulane Green Wave.

For those unfamiliar, single-game slates feature five flex spots with identical scoring to the main slate. However, there is an "MVP" roster slot. The MVP receives 1.5 times his total fantasy points, making this spot crucial.

MVP Consideration

Marquez Stevenson, Houston ($15,000) - Blessed with track-star speed, Stevenson is the Cougars' top playmaker. The senior wide receiver racked up 127 receptions, 1,926 receiving yards, and 18 touchdown receptions over the last two seasons. He also ran for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns in that same time frame. Manning the H-receiver spot in Houston's offense, Stevenson should get off to a fast start on Thursday night. This week's opponent, Tulane, was throttled by South Alabama Jaguars H-receiver Kawaan Baker in the Green Wave's season-opener. Baker recorded 7 receptions, 129 receiving yards, and 1 touchdown.

Clayton Tune, Houston ($14,500) - Tune closed out the 2019 season by making seven consecutive starts for the Cougars. In those seven games, Tune averaged 219.0 passing yards. He tossed 11 touchdowns while also rushing for 244 yards and 2 touchdowns. According to Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle, 9 of the last 12 seasons dating back to 2008, quarterbacks under Dana Holgerson (Houston's head coach) have thrown for 30 or more touchdowns. Duarte also notes that 5 of those 12 quarterbacks threw for over 3,000 yards.

Michael Pratt, Tulane ($13,000) - Michael Pratt will make his second straight start for the Green Wave. In his first collegiate start, Pratt threw for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns while also rushing for 40 yards and 1 touchdown. Pratt makes for an interesting MVP selection due to his dual-threat ability. Additionally, he faces off with a Cougars defense, which was throttled for 53 total touchdowns in only 12 games a season ago.

Cameron Carroll, Tulane ($12,500) - The big sophomore running back is off to a phenomenal start this season. Through three games, Carroll has already rushed for 251 yards and 7 touchdowns on 36 carries. He's also added a touchdown reception. With Tyjae Spears out for the season, Carroll is the Green Wave's primary ball carrier. Up next is a date with the Cougars, who were flattened for 24 rushing touchdowns in 12 games last season.

Others to consider: Mulbah Carr and Kyle Porter.

Value Plays

Amare Jones, Tulane ($10,000) - Jones is an intriguing running back due to his superior pass-catching skills. Per Pro Football Focus, Jones leads the Green Wave in targets (11) and receptions (6). He's also tallied 106 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on 18 carries this season. I like his chances of producing an eye-popping stat line as he lines up against the Houston defense, which struggled mightily in 2019.

Keith Corbin, Houston ($9,500) - Corbin and Marquez Stevenson are two of the top wide receivers in the American Conference. Corbin had a monster 2018 season in which he tallied 40 receptions, 691 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns. The senior returns for one final year of college football after redshirting in 2019. Despite only playing four games in 2019, Corbin still managed to catch 11 balls for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Jeremy Singleton, Houston ($8,500) - Singleton is slated to start at one of the wide receiver spots for Houston. In 2019, Singleton was the Cougars' second-leading wide receiver. He compiled 26 receptions, 381 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns on 53 targets, per Pro Football Focus.

Tre'Von Bradley, Houston ($7,500) - Bradley OR Nathaniel Dell will start at one of the wide receivers spot for Houston in the season opener. Bradley emerged as one of the Cougars' better wide receivers late in the 2019 season. The junior topped 90 receiving yards in two out of the final four games last season.

Others to consider: Phatt Watts, Nathaniel Dell, Duece Watts, Stephon Huderson, and Mykel Jones.
