Fantasy Football: 10 Waiver-Wire Players to Target Early in the Season

Just because you already drafted doesn't mean you can't improve your team before the season kicks off.

Every year without fail, some of the players you drafted in early August get hurt in the preseason. Or they drop on the depth chart. Or news emerges that they'll be in a timeshare.

That's why drafting as close to the season's start as possible is glorious.

If you haven't drafted yet, a week before the season, you can react to the news and make the best choices possible. You can draft Dak Prescott rather than Tony Romo, and you won't overspend on the injured Matt Jones.

But even if you have drafted, there's no reason you can't start eyeing up waiver-wire options.

Here are 10 players who are owned in fewer than 40% of ESPN.com leagues. These guys are mostly selected (if they're taken at all) in the final rounds of drafts -- per average draft position (ADP) from Fantasy Football Calculator -- but they're worth checking out as an early waiver move or a late-round choice.
