3 Fantasy Football Quarterback Streaming Options for Week 6
Quarterback streaming isn't for everyone, but if you're in a standard league -- like a 10- or 12-team league that features just one starting signal caller -- grabbing productive quarterbacks who have good matchups off the waiver wire is often doable.
Sure, you won't have the luxury of setting it and forgetting it with Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback, but when the top-end signal callers draw a tough matchup, their upside can oftentimes be matched by a waiver-wire option in a more favorable situation.
In Week 5, we got back on the QB1 (top-12) train as Andy Dalton scored 18.98 points to check in as the QB10 for the week. That gives us a top-12 outing in four of five weeks, and we're averaging 19.66 fantasy points per week, tied for QB7 for the season.
If you're looking for some quarterback options from the waiver wire -- regardless of league size -- we have you covered. Here are three quarterbacks owned in fewer than roughly 30% of Yahoo! leagues who are in good spots this week.
Gardner Minshew, Jacksonville Jaguars
Yahoo Ownership: 25%
Thanks to his play thus far as well as a nice matchup, Gardner Minshew is the top streaming option this week.
He's got a home date with the New Orleans Saints, and Minshew has been a high-floor play this year, pumping out totals of 16.12, 17.96, 16.72 and 21.16 in his four starts (along with 17.60 points in relief in Week 1). He's been boosted by his legs, rushing for 56 and 42 yards in separate games while recording at least four carries in three of his four starts.
Our models have Minshew as the QB12 for the week, projecting him to score 17.14 fantasy points.
Kyle Allen, Carolina Panthers
Yahoo Ownership: 10%
Right behind Minshew, per our projections, is Kyle Allen, who we have as this week's QB13 with a projected point total of 16.94 points.
After a solid start to the year, the Bucs' D has stumbled in recent weeks, and they have now allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Teddy Bridgewater sliced them up for 314 yards and four scores in Week 5, which came after Jared Goff posted 517 yards and two scores (plus three picks) against the Bucs in Week 4.
Allen is a great fall-back option after Minshew, and if you don't want to burn a precious waiver claim on a quarterback this week, you may be able to nab him after waivers clear, something you probably can't say for Minshew unless no one else in your league is streaming the position.
Cole McCoy, Washington
Yahoo Ownership: 1%
This is really just a placeholder for whoever starts at quarterback for Washington this week. Whether it's Colt McCoy, Dwayne Haskins or Case Keenum, the starter will be in a plum spot on the road against the Miami Dolphins.
Miami has given up the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. Per our schedule-adjusted metrics, the Dolphins boast the league's worst overall defense and second-worst pass D. Washington carries a respectable 22.75-point implied total as 3.5-point road favorites.
Check news regarding Washington's quarterback situation, but as things stand now, our models have McCoy as the QB20 for the week.
