Week 12 NFL FanDuel Salary Movers

Things can change quickly in fantasy football. To quote Ferris Bueller -- "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

We're here to "look around" and make sure we don't miss any week-to-week salary changes that could pay dividends on FanDuel.

Perhaps a player had an outlier performance and saw their salary rise too high, making them a sub-optimal play. Or, maybe a player saw an increase in their role but played on Monday night after salaries for the following week's slate already came out, and therefore they haven't been priced accordingly.

This week's article will take a look at which players' salaries have changed the most from Week 11 to Week 12.

Quarterback

Jeff Driskel, Detroit Lions

Week 11 Salary: $6,700
Week 12 Salary: $7,300

I try to avoid overlap in this article, and Jeff Driskel was the biggest mover at quarterback last week. However, the situation has changed from Driskel being a spot-start to a potential multi-week fill-in for Matthew Stafford. Against the Dallas Cowboys, who had limited quarterback scoring to just over 12 FanDuel points per game, Driskel scored three touchdowns on his way to 27.46 FanDuel points. He completed just 15 of 26 passes for 209 yards but connected with Marvin Jones for two touchdowns. Driskel added another 51 yards on the ground with eight rushes and another touchdown.

Doctors reportedly advised Stafford he was dealing with a six-week timeframe to recover from the fractured bones in his back, so we can expect Driskel to remain the starter for perhaps another month (or maybe the rest of the year).

Next up for Driskel and the Lions is a road date versus Washington. The Lions are 3.5-point favorites with an implied team total of 22.5, and they are facing a defense that was just torched by Sam Darnold for 293 yards and four touchdowns. Stacking him with Kenny Golladay ($7,800) or Marvin Jones ($7,200) can get expensive, but for tournament builds, the matchup against Washington's porous defense is about as good as it gets.

Running Back

Jaylen Samuels, Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 11 Salary: $5,900
Week 12 Salary: $6,900

The Pittsburgh Steelers are back on the main slate after last week's throwdown with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. In that one, James Conner returned after missing two games due to a shoulder injury but aggravated the injury in the first half and did not return. Jaylen Samuels resumed lead-back duties after Conner's exit but rushed only five times for 26 yards. He did find the end zone as a a receiver, catching five of six targets for 19 yards and a touchdown for 13 FanDuel points in a 21-7 loss.

Conner did not practice Wednesday, leaving his availability for Sunday in doubt. Samuels is no stranger to this list and once again finds himself as the presumed starter. That alone could explain his salary increase, but now he gets another shot at the Cincinnati Bengals.

These teams played back in Week 4, and Samuels did it all, rushing for 26 yards and a touchdown while catching all eight of targets for 57 yards and also completing each of his three pass attempts for 19.54 FanDuel points. JuJu Smith-Schuster is not expected to play, and Diontae Johnson remains in the concussion protocol. Samuel could be in store for another monster game due to the Steelers' lack of available pass catchers, and the Bengals rank 32nd in target success rate allowed to running backs.

Wide Receiver

Calvin Ridley, Atlanta Falcons

Week 11 Salary: $5,500

If, like me, you've been waiting for the Calvin Ridley blow-up game, our patience was rewarded Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Ridley started the season hot, catching a touchdown in each of the first two games and amassing 170 receiving yards for 34.9 FanDuel points. Since then, he's reached 75 yards in a game only once and was coming off a lackluster three-reception outing against the New Orleans Saints.

Last week, facing a Panthers' defense that gives up over 31 FanDuel points per game to wide receivers, Ridley hauled in all eight of his targets for 143 yards and touchdown on his way to 24.3 FanDuel points. Ridley's performance and opponent make him the biggest mover at any position this week, up $1,200.

Austin Hooper and Devonta Freeman are still up in the air as far as playing Sunday, though neither practiced Wednesday. In their absence a week ago, Ridley saw his most targets since Week 5 and led the team in air yards.

Staying within the NFC South, the Falcons' wide receivers are set for another prime spot against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This game has the slate's highest total at 51 points, and you'll certainly want to build lineups around this game. If Hooper remains out, Ridley is a strong play -- even at his elevated salary -- versus a Tampa secondary with a target success rate allowed to wide receivers of 54.6 percent.

Tight End

Cameron Brate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Week 11 Salary: $4,500
Week 12 Salary: $5,400

The Buccaneer who led the team in targets, receptions, and yards last week against the Saints was ... Cameron Brate?

The veteran tight end entered the game with just 15 targets on the season and almost eclipsed that mark in a single game. Brate's opportunities increased after an O.J. Howard bobble led to an interception and apparent benching. In his absence, Brate caught 10 of his 14 targets for 73 yards and 12.3 FanDuel points as the Bucs played catch-up for much of the afternoon.

Outside of game stacks, it's hard to envision using Brate this week. The Falcons' defense has given up just 12 points in their last two games against the Saints and Panthers, with 11 sacks and four interceptions in that span. Combined with the uncertainty of his role, Brate is not a standalone option at tight end this week for your DFS rosters. Instead, If you find yourself in this salary range, I'd much rather go up another $200 for Ryan Griffin against the Oakland Raiders.
