NFL Betting: Who Will Win Offensive Rookie of the Year?

NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year is one of the most exciting awards to follow each year for a variety of reasons. First off, seeing a new group of talented players in the NFL is always awesome and provides great storylines. Second, we have a chance to speculate on who will be the best and take home the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.

The odds for this bet are up on the NFL Player Props, which will be the point of reference.

Who Are The Favorites?

It shouldn't come as a surprise, but Joe Burrow -- the overwhelming favorite to be the number one pick in the NFL Draft -- is the Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite as well, sitting at +250. Behind him, we have Tua Tagovailoa at +800, D'Andre Swift at +900, Jonathan Taylor at +950, Jerry Jeudy at +1300, and Justin Herbert at +1300.

Three of the top six are quarterbacks and two are running backs, along with a single wide receiver. Since 2000, it has been very clear that both quarterbacks and running backs dominate this award, making the lines above very clear indicators of who is projected to win.

We also have to consider the options around him to win the award. Tagovailoa is still a question mark in the eyes of some, as the status of his health isn't 100% clear. Some mock drafts have D'Andre Swift going to the Miami Dolphins or the Tennessee Titans. The former will likely be playing from behind, which isn't the ideal situation for a running back. Meanwhile, the Titans already have an established back with Derrick Henry.

If you look at the next 10 players and their odds, there are four running backs, six wide receivers, and no quarterbacks. All of these players have odds listed at +1500 or greater -- not surprising -- as most of them are projected in the second half of the first round or later.

Who Is The Best Bet?

Last season, we saw Kyler Murray take home the award with 26 votes, while Josh Jacobs finished in second with 13. Prior to the season starting, Murray was listed as a +175 favorite to win the award on August 5th, 2019 via NFL Player Props. Joe Burrow is the favorite at +250 -- better odds than Murray last season -- and those odds aren't likely to stay in that spot. It's not like you are taking a crazy flyer on a player -- 40% of the winners since 2000 have been quarterbacks.

Burrow is the projected number one pick, and while we don't have clarity that he will start Week 1 for the Cincinnati Bengals -- if they, in fact, draft him and move on from Andy Dalton -- his odds should become less favorable. Now is the time to jump in.

You are getting plus money (+250) to bet on the consensus number one overall pick, who is also the favorite to take home the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Burrow is shaping up to be the starter in Cincinnati for many years to come, and that should start with him taking home this award.
