Week 13 Fantasy Football Market Share Report: Devin Singletary Got a Heavy Workload

Here we are -- Week 14, the start of the fantasy playoffs (in most leagues). Waiver moves, start/sit calls, and the like mean more now

Let's take a look at some players who saw some usage changes in Week 13, impacting their respective values as we head into win-or-go-home time.

Rushing Market Shares

Devin Singletary, Bills

If there was a timeshare in the Buffalo Bills' backfield, it sure didn't look like it on Monday night. Devin Singletary was clearly in front of Zack Moss.

After an early Moss fumble, Singletary dominated the touches and finished with 18 carries for 61 yards. He added 3 receptions for 22 yards. Moss had only 3 rushes for 9 yards. The 18 carries tied a single-game season high for Singletary, who had just 17 total attempts across the previous three games combined.

With Singletary getting an 85.7 percent rushing share on Monday in a pivotal game, his fantasy outlook all of the sudden looks a lot brighter, though the matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers is a rough one.

Melvin Gordon, Broncos

Melvin Gordon's days of being an elite fantasy option are over. But he has shown recently that he can carry the load by being a solid RB2.

Despite splitting the Denver Broncos' carries almost down the middle with Phillip Lindsay (14 attempts) in Week 13, Gordon (15) exploded for 131 yards, including a 65-yard run. Lindsay netted only 26 yards on his carries. Gordon was also the only Broncos running back to get a reception (1 for 11 yards).

Maybe the big game will lead to Gordon getting a bigger piece of the pie, but as things stand, he's still a lower-end RB2 who has a pretty scary week-to-week floor.

Receiving Market Shares

Marvin Jones, Lions

Kenny Golladay is having a season full of injuries. Marvin Jones, on the other hand, is becoming fairly reliable for the Detroit Lions. This past Sunday, Jones hit for 8 receptions, 116 yards, and 1 touchdown on 12 targets.

Jones accounted for a 30 percent target share, and it came in the first game sans former coach Matt Patricia. We shouldn't look too much into one game, but Stafford had a deep-ball rate of 26.1 percent in this one -- way up from his season-long average of 15.2 percent coming into Week 13. Maybe the aggressiveness sticks under the new regime.

Either way, Jones, who has seen 12 targets in two straight games, is an easy start for the rest of 2020.

Keke Coutee, Texans

Keke Coutee led the Houston Texans in targets, yards, and receptions on Sunday in the first game without Will Fuller. Coutee stepped up in a big way with 8 receptions for 141 yards on 9 targets, which included a 64-yard catch and run.

With a 24.3 percent target share last week and the Texans extremely thin at wide receiver, Coutee is worth a look as a flex play, although a Week 14 date with the Chicago Bears isn't ideal.

Red Zone Market Shares

David Montgomery, Bears

Despite possibly not being all that good at football, David Montgomery is going to be a key fantasy piece the rest of the way due to his volume, which includes a heavy dose of touches in the red zone.

Through Week 13, Montgomery has 24 red zone touches and 66.7 percent of the Bears' red zone rushing work. He's likely due for some positive scoring regression as he has only 3 red zone touchdowns thus far -- two of which came in Week 13.

Montgomery is getting workhorse volume and draws a dream date with Houston this next week.

JuJu Smith-Schuster, Steelers

JuJu Smith-Schuster hasn't been very consistent this season, even with Ben Roethlisberger passing a ton lately, because the Pittsburgh Steelers have three really good receiving options. But he has 14 red zone targets, which boosts his fantasy value.

With a 24.6 percent share of the Steelers' red zone looks, Smith-Schuster is tough to put on fantasy benches despite failing to go for more than 37 yards in any of the last three weeks. He's a reasonable flex play at the Bills this week in what should be a high-scoring affair.
