3 Fantasy Football Quarterback Streaming Options for Week 7

Tua Tagovailoa is in a pristine spot against the Falcons this week. Which other widely available quarterbacks could help your team?

Let's get right down to it and look at quarterback streaming options for your season-long lineups.

Quarterback streaming isn't for everyone, but if you're in a standard league -- like a 10- or 12-team league that features just one starting signal caller -- grabbing potentially productive quarterbacks in good matchups off the waiver wire is often doable. For some roster constructions, it can even be optimal.

Sure, you won't have the luxury of setting it and forgetting it with Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback, but when the top-end signal-callers draw a tough matchup, their upside can oftentimes be matched by a waiver-wire option in a more favorable situation.

Throughout the season, this column should, will, and must be your go-to resource for identifying quarterbacks to stream in a pinch. Here are three quarterbacks rostered in fewer than roughly 50% of Yahoo leagues who are in solid spots this week.

Week 6 was an average week for this column. Carson Wentz didn't light the world on fire, but he continued his consistent fantasy play en route to 17 fantasy points. Taylor Heinicke was a bust, unpredictably logging zero rushing attempts after rushing had become a staple of his game and fantasy performances. Sometimes the process just doesn't beget the proper result. Finally, Geno Smith failed for the same reason, logging just one rush attempt. There should be better days ahead when streaming rushing quarterbacks.

There are some injury situations at quarterback for us to monitor. Dak Prescott was spotted in a boot after the game, though the Dallas Cowboys have a bye this week and Prescott doesn't seem concerned. Baker Mayfield's non-throwing shoulder underwent an MRI on Monday, so his timeline is to be determined. We still don't have clarity on the situations for the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans, though as of this writing Jimmy Garoppolo and Davis Mills are expected to start this week.

We'll have plenty of situations to monitor throughout the week. For now, let's aim for more streaming goodness in Week 7!

Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins

Roster Percentage: 17%

Tua Tagovailoa returned to the Miami Dolphins in Week 6, netting himself season highs in pass attempts, passing yards, and rushing yards. He's immediately back on the streaming radar.

While the matchup was good, so is this week's: the Atlanta Falcons rank 30th in schedule-adjusted pass defense, per numberFire’s metrics.

While not thought of as a fantasy force, Tua has now scored 17.18 and 22.36 fantasy points in his two full games played this year. Notably, Tua rushed for a touchdown in Week 1, then toted the rock three times for 22 yards this past week. I'll continue to hammer home the importance of rushing ability in streaming quarterbacks, and Tua is no exception.

With Jaylen Waddle and Mike Gesicki in the fold and potentially getting DeVante Parker back this week, Tua's options help leave the streaming light on.

Meanwhile, this game could end up a #badteamshootout. The total is solid at 47.5, and the Falcons enter as just 2.5-point favorites, meaning Vegas is projecting a close game. Importantly, both teams play at a high pace and throw the ball at high rates in neutral scripts. Miami's defense also ranks 27th in schedule-adjusted pass defense, so the combination of high pass rates and poor defense should provide an ideal fantasy environment.

Our projections agree, as Tua checks in as the 12th-best quarterback on this slate. Stream Tua with confidence this week.

Mac Jones, Patriots

Roster Percentage: 18%

Did I mention bye weeks are here? With six teams on bye, this is one of the toughest quarterback streaming weeks in recent memory.

Time to scrape the bottom of the barrel with Mac Jones. While Jones has yet to display much of a fantasy ceiling, he's been an extremely consistent floor producer, registering between 14 and 18 fantasy points in four of his six starts. In fact, he's recorded at least 270 yards and/or 2 passing touchdowns in all four of those performances.

Jones will face the New York Jets and their 22nd-ranked schedule-adjusted pass defense. Notably, the Jets are a clear pass funnel defense, ranking 7th-best against the run. While this game carries a low total, New England's 24.75-point implied team total is 10th among teams entering the week.

Our projections have Jones with the 14th-highest quarterback projection of the week. Hold your nose and stream.

Daniel Jones, Giants

Roster Percentage: 33%

No, streaming Daniel Jones isn't for the faint of heart. But it's spooky szn, right?

After all, Danny Dimes was the overall QB6 through the first four weeks of the season. Then he suffered a concussion and missed most of Week 5, before playing against our fifth-best defense without three of his top four receivers last week. It's more than reasonable to give him a pass for his fantasy performance over the last two weeks.

The floor is still admittedly low here. But the hope is that Darius Slayton finally returns from his hamstring injury, and Jones is willing to tuck and run more this week. The Carolina Panthers have allowed the 11th-most rushing yards to quarterbacks despite facing only one legitimate rushing quarterback all year. Jones, meanwhile, still ranks fourth among passers in rushing yards despite essentially not running over the last two weeks.

Fully back from his concussion with at least some of his weapons getting healthy, Jones is a high-risk, high-reward streamer this week. Our projections have him as a top-10 quarterback option, too.
