3 Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamer Options for Week 2

Carson Wentz had a big game in Week 1, and he's a great streaming option this week versus the Lions. Which other waiver-wire quarterbacks can help you?

Quarterback streaming isn't for everyone, but if you're in a standard league -- like a 10- or 12-team league that features just one starting signal caller -- grabbing potentially productive quarterbacks in good matchups off the waiver wire is often doable.

Sure, you won't have the luxury of setting it and forgetting it with Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback, but when the top-end signal-callers draw a tough matchup, their upside can oftentimes be matched by a waiver-wire option in a more favorable situation.

If you're looking for some quarterback options from the waiver wire -- regardless of league size -- we have you covered. Here are three quarterbacks rostered in fewer than roughly 40% of Yahoo leagues who are in good spots this week.

Carson Wentz, Commanders

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 13%

Carson Wentz racked up 313 passing yards and four scores last week in the Washington Commanders' win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. While it feels point-chasey to turn to him in Week 2, he's got another soft matchup, this time hitting the road to take on the Detroit Lions.

As weird as it may sound, this Commanders-Lions game is one of the more fantasy-friendly affairs of the week. It's got a 49.5-point total and a 1.5-point spread.

With an appealing supporting cast around him, Wentz should be in for another nice fantasy day. We project him for 17.5 fantasy points and rank him as the week's QB14.

Jared Goff, Lions

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 21%

On the other side of the Detroit-Washington game, Jared Goff is also a viable streamer.

Aided by a negative game script in Week 1, Goff went for 215 yards and 2 scores. That's nothing to write home about, but with some better touchdown luck -- the Lions' offense scored five times -- he could've had a much better fantasy day.

The Lions will likely be able to move the ball pretty well against a Washington defense that permitted 383 total yards -- including 275 passing yards to Trevor Lawrence -- in Week 1. Washington gave up the most fantasy points per game to signal-callers a year ago (21.5).

Our model forecasts Goff for 15.6 fantasy points and slots him as the QB18 for the week.

Daniel Jones, Giants

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 25%

Daniel Jones wasn't asked to do much in the first game of the Brian Daboll era, tossing just 21 passes. He did OK with the volume, completing 17 of those attempts for 188 yards and 2 scores in the comeback win over the Tennessee Titans.

He's got a softer matchup in Week 2 as the New York Giants host the Carolina Panthers. Obviously, we'd love more than 21 pass attempts from Jones, but his fantasy outlook is always aided by his ability to run. Jones flashed that in Week 1, carrying the ball six times for 25 yards.

The Giants' passer is a serviceable streamer and strong QB2 option this week. We have him scoring 16.6 points, the 16th-most among quarterbacks.
