3 Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamer Options for Week 3

Quarterback streaming isn't for everyone, but if you're in a standard league -- like a 10- or 12-team league that features just one starting signal caller -- grabbing potentially productive quarterbacks in good matchups off the waiver wire is often doable.

Sure, you won't have the luxury of setting it and forgetting it with Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback, but when the top-end signal-callers draw a tough matchup, their upside can oftentimes be matched by a waiver-wire option in a more favorable situation.

If you're looking for some quarterback options from the waiver wire -- regardless of league size -- we have you covered. Here are three quarterbacks rostered in fewer than roughly 40% of Yahoo leagues who are in good spots this week.

Marcus Mariota, Falcons

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 11%

The next two signal-callers are technically rostered in too many leagues to be our top steamer of the week, so I'll start with Marcus Mariota.

Mariota has been a decent fantasy option thus far, ranking as the QB12 on the year, and he has a nice matchup this week at the Seattle Seahawks.

A huge part of the appeal for Mariota is his running ability. He's got a whopping 18 rushes through two games, racking up 88 rushing yards and a score on the ground. Seattle's defense hasn't been too bad in 2022, but they've still given up the 13th-most fantasy points per game to running backs (18.5).

Our model ranks Mariota as the week's QB14, pegging him to score 16.2 points.

Justin Fields, Bears

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 57%

Let's get this out of the way -- Justin Fields has attempted only 28 passes through two weeks. That's not ideal.

But as was the case with Mariota, we're here for the ground work. Fields has run it 19 times for 48 yards and one touchdown. He nearly had another rushing score, as well.

The matchup this week is a great one as the Chicago Bears host the Houston Texans. Houston's D has been surprisingly competent so far, but we have them ranked as a middle-of-the-pack unit, per our schedule-adjusted metrics.

We project Fields for 16.7 points and slot him as the QB12. If he's available in your league, this is a fantastic spot to use him.

Jameis Winston, Saints

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 49%

Jameis Winston hits the road in Week 3 to take on the Carolina Panthers. It's not a great matchup, but Winston's combination of passing volume and surrounding talent makes him a fine option in two-quarterback formats.

With Michael Thomas back and both Jarvis Landry and Chris Olave in the fold, the Saints have a nice group of skill players -- especially if Alvin Kamara can get back on the field this week.

Winston has attempted 34 and 40 passes in his two games, and while he struggled last week versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Winston can rebound against Carolina.

Our model has Winston putting up 14.2 points and ranks him as the QB25, which is definitely a notch or two below Fields and Mariota.
