Doug Baldwin released by Seattle with "failed physical" designation
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin has been released on Thursday afternoon due to a failed physical as health problems arose over the offseason.
This isn't the team letting him go. Instead, this is a mandatory precursor to receiving an injury settlement when he ultimately retires from football. A knee injury plagued him last season, and like Rob Gronkowski, the relatively-young pass catcher has called it quits as his body has broken down. Tyler Lockett is the de-facto No. 1 receiver in Seattle now, and D.K. Metcalf has all the opportunity in the world to break out as a rookie.
In 123 career games, Baldwin caught 493 yards for 6,563 yards and 49 touchdowns.
