Saints ink new running back Kendall Hunter

The New Orleans Saints signed running back Kendall Hunter.

What It Means:

Hunter has been out of the league all year and shouldn't be a threat to starter Tim Hightower’s role. If anything, the speedy pass-catching back might be a wakeup call to the underperforming C.J. Spiller. The Saints also placed running back Marcus Murphy on injured reserve in a corresponding move.

The last time Hunter played in a meaningful game was in the 2013 season, where he recorded 78 rushes for -4.61 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) and two receptions for 0.49 Reception NEP. His Rushing NEP ranked 28th among backs with between 25 and 100 rushes that season.
