Saints' Drew Brees (thumb) says rehab on track
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees said the rehab on his surgically-repaired right thumb is going as planned.
Brees added that he "hopes" to be throwing a regular-sized football "sooner rather than later" and that they are "fast-tracking this thing as fast as we can." The most likely return date is Week 10 following the Saints' bye. Teddy Bridgewater has gone 3-0 as a starter in place of Brees.
Brees completed 72.9 percent of his passes for 408 yards (8.5 yards per attempt) with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions before the thumb injury.
