Washington's Alex Smith (leg) making progress
Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith (leg) was seen throwing passes on the practice field.
Smith is recovering from a broken right leg that he says required 17 surgeries to repair. If he does play in the NFL again, it likely won't be until 2020 at the earliest. The veteran will be 36 before the start of the next season.
Smith completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 2,180 yards (6.6 per attempt) with 10 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in 10 games for Washington last season. He added 168 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
