Raiders' Darren Waller signs contract extension through 2023
Oakland Raiders tight end Darren Waller signed a contract extension on Wednesday that ties him to the team through 2023.
Waller is in the midst of a breakout season with 37 receptions for 359 yards on 42 targets. Averaging 8.4 targets per game, Waller has been the focal point of the Raiders' passing attack this season and now has a new contract to show for his impressive work. Waller was set to become a restricted free agent after this season but now his future is committed to the Raiders for $9 million per year, making him a top-10 paid tight end.
With his bye already behind him, Waller has the second-most receptions of any tight end this season (37), the sixth most yards (359) and the fourth most yards per game (71.8). Amazingly he has yet to score a touchdown this season.
