Andy Dalton to reportedly be benched after Bengals' bye, rookie Ryan Finley taking over
The Cincinnati Bengals will bench quarterback Andy Dalton following their Week 9 bye, reports Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The winless Bengals are expected to hand the keys over to fourth-round rookie Ryan Finley after the bye. It's the end of an era for Cincinnati, as Dalton has been the incumbent since 2011 when he was selected in the second round. Since then, Dalton has set the standard for below-average-to-mediocre quarterback play for nearly a decade. This move comes on the veteran's 32nd birthday. A.J. Green is expected to make his season debut in Week 10 for Finley's first start.
Dalton completed 60.4 percent of his passes for 2,252 yards (6.7 per attempt) with 9 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in eight games this season.
