Panthers' Christian McCaffrey sets single-season running back catch record in Week 16 loss to the Colts
Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey had 13 carries for 54 yards and 15 receptions for 119 yards in a 6-38 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16.
With an eye on the rare 1,000/1,000 season, McCaffrey caught 15 passes, breaking his own record for catches in a single-season by a running back that he set last year. McCaffrey was the only bright spot for the Panthers, as rookie quarterback Will Grier was miserably ineffective and D.J. Moore left the game in the first quarter with a head injury. McCaffrey will head into a Week 17 meeting with the New Orleans Saints needing just 67 receiving yards to become just the third player in NFL history to record a 1,000/1,000 season.
For the season, McCaffrey is up to 278 carries for 1,361 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground, and 109 receptions for 933 yards, and 4 touchdowns through the air.
