Washington's Alex Smith (leg) wants to return to field

Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith (leg) "without a doubt" wants to continue his playing career, he said Monday.

What It Means:

Smith has been inactive since suffering a horrific leg injury in November of 2018 that wound up requiring at least 17 surgeries. Washington is embracing a rebuild, so Smith's return would likely come with a different team. He will be 36 in May.

Smith completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 2,180 yards (6.6 per attempt) with 10 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in 10 games for Washington in 2018. He added 168 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
