Chris Jones gets franchise tag from Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs placed the franchise tag on defensive lineman Chris Jones.
This was the expectation after Jones and the Chiefs failed to come to an agreement on a long-term deal. Turning 26 this summer, Jones has emerged as one of the premier players at his position, excelling both against the run and as a pash-rusher.
Jones graded as Pro Football Focus' sixth-best interior defender among 124 qualified players in 2019. He's recorded 24.5 sacks and 49 quarterback hits in 29 games over the past two seasons.
