Bucs use franchise tag on Shaq Barrett
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed the franchise tag on linebacker Shaq Barrett.
What It Means:
The move likely indicates Jameis Winston will hit the open market. Barrett led the league with 19.5 sacks last season, more than he had over four seasons combined with the Denver Broncos. He turned 27 at the end of last year.
Barrett's arrival in Tampa Bay raised the defense's quarterback pressure rate from 20.2 percent in 2018 to 23.9 percent in 2019.
