Austin Hooper reportedly signs 4-year deal with Browns
The Cleveland Browns are signing tight end Austin Hooper, formerly of the Atlanta Falcons, to a 4-year deal worth $44 million, reports ESPN's Vaughn McClure.
The deal includes $23 million guaranteed and makes Hooper the highest-paid tight end in the league for the time being. Despite only playing in 13 games last season, Hooper set career-highs across the board with 75 catches on 97 targets for 787 yards and 6 touchdowns. That said, the Falcons threw the ball more than any team in the NFL while the Browns finished 19th in pass attempts, so Hooper may not see as much usage in Cleveland. The Falcons responded by acquiring tight end Hayden Hurst from the Baltimore Ravens.
Hooper was the TE3 last season with 11.9 FanDuel points per game. Among tight ends with at least 30 targets last season, Hooper finished 13th in yards per target (8.1).
