Teddy Bridgewater, Panthers reportedly closing in on 3-year deal
The Carolina Panthers and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater are working on finalizing a 3-year, $60 million contract, reports Chris Mortensen.
The deal is expected to be completed by the time the new league year starts on Wednesday as the Panthers take no time in moving on from Cam Newton. Bridgewater is familiar with Carolina's offensive scheme due to his ties to offensive coordinator Joe Brady during their time together with the New Orleans Saints in 2018. Bridgewater went 5-0 while filling in for Drew Brees last season and he owns a 22-12 career record as a starter.
Bridgewater averaged 14.55 FanDuel points and 241.0 passing yards in his five starts last season while throwing 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He had the lowest average depth of target (6.2 yards) among the 42 quarterbacks with at least 100 attempts.
