Chiefs add XFL talent Jordan Ta'amu to quarterback room
The Kansas City Chiefs signed quarterback Jordan Ta'amu, formerly of the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL, to a one-year contract.
Ta'amu and P.J. Walker, who was picked up by the Carolina Panthers on Monday, were both widely viewed as the two best quarterbacks in the XFL this season. Ta'amu spent time with the Houston Texans in training camp last year but was released before the start of the season. He figures to compete with Chad Henne and Kyle Shurmur for QB2 duties in Kansas City. Ta'amu turned 22 last December.
Ta'amu completed 72.4 percent of his passes for 1,050 yards with 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in five games for the BattleHawks. He added 217 rushing yards (7th in the XFL) and another touchdown. At the collegiate level, Ta'amu threw for 5,600 yards and 30 touchdowns in two seasons at Ole Miss.
