Vikings, Anthony Harris expected to resume talks on a long-term deal

Minnesota Vikings defensive back Anthony Harris is expected to resume discussions with the team centered on his status and a long-term deal, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.

What It Means:

Anderson stated that a deal is in the "realm" of what's necessary to finalize, but Harris is aware that other factors could still impact his future in Minnesota. A former undrafted free agent back in 2015, Harris has spent his entire five-year career with the Vikings, and the team placed their franchise tag on him earlier this offseason. The versatile 28-year-old lined up all over the defensive side of the ball last season, playing 588 snaps at free safety, 266 at box, and 160 in the slot. On the 17 targets he saw, Harris allowed a passer rating of just 54.7 and pulled down 6 interceptions, the most in the NFL for his position.

Harris was Pro Football Focus' third-ranked safety last season with a defensive grade of 90.5. His coverage grade of 91.6 was the second-best among all safeties and 1st among those that saw at least 4 targets.
