Panthers pick defense, grab lineman Derrick Brown at No. 7
The Carolina Panthers have selected Auburn defensive lineman Derrick Brown with the No. 7 pick in the NFL Draft.
The Panthers are under a new regime with Matt Rhule in charge in Charlotte, and their first pick of the era is a defensive tackle in Brown. Known for his run-stopping ability, he can help bolster Carolina's interior defensive line, something it was lacking last year when it allowed a league-high 5.2 yards per carry.
Brown finished his senior season with 55 tackles (33 solo) with 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 4 passes defended.
