Tampa Bay trades up, picks Tristan Wirfs No. 13 overall
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have selected Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs with the No. 13 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Bucs were originally slotted in to pick No. 14, but they decided to give up some excess capital to bolster the offensive line. With Tom Brady now calling the signals in Tampa, protection for the soon-to-be 43-year-old is absolutely vital. Wirfs figures to slide right into the right tackle position and will hope to keep Brady upright.
Per Football Outsiders, Tampa Bay had the No. 23-ranked offensive line in regards to run blocking a year ago. They were slightly better in pass protection, ranking 22nd with a 7.6 adjusted sack percentage allowed.
