Saints officially re-sign quarterback Taysom Hill
The New Orleans Saints have officially signed swiss army knife quarterback Taysom Hill to a 2-year, $21 million contract.
The deal reportedly comes with $16 million in guaranteed money. It is a lucrative deal for the versatile athlete, and comes on the heels of the team signing veteran quarterback Jameis Winston to a one-year deal earlier this morning. It's a lot of money for a quarterback that doesn't pass very often, but Hill is certainly a unique player in the league.
As a passer Hill has completed just 7 of his 15 attempts, but he does offer an extremely versatile skill set outside of the traditional passing role, averaging 5.5 yards per rushing attempt and catching 8 touchdowns on 26 receptions over the past two seasons. The Saints are clearly enamored with Hill as an offensive weapon, but expect Winston to operate as the primary back up to Drew Brees.
