Bengals' Tee Higgins expected to start Week 1

Cincinnati Bengals second-round rookie wide receiver Tee Higgins is expected to open the year as a starter, writes Jay Morrison of The Athletic.

What It Means:

"Even with a truncated offseason limiting how quickly Higgins can get up to speed, I fully expect the rookie second-round pick to be in the starting lineup when the season opens," Morrison writes. The 33rd overall pick will likely be competing with Tyler Boyd, John Ross, and Auden Tate for the starting spot opposite A.J. Green. Ross probably figures to be hurt the most by Higgins' arrival. Higgins caught 59 passes for 1,167 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2019, earning first-team All-ACC honors as a true junior.

Higgins averaged the third-most yards per target (13.4) in the draft class and hauled in 15 catches on 23 deep targets for 565 yards, per Pro Football Focus. He earned a top-10 receiving grade each of the last two seasons and boasts the second-best two-year grade in college football. Higgins is also the only receiver to produce a two-year grade above 90.0 against tight coverage and has picked up an explosive play of 15-plus yards on a quarter of such targets.
