Saints' Jameis Winston claims improved depth perception
New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston said his "depth perception has increased."
Winston underwent an eye operation this offseason. "No blurriness, and I think that's huge," Winston said. "I can read license plates. I can read street signs. I think the precision in the vision is the biggest difference." Winston led the league with 5,109 passing yards and threw a career-high 33 touchdowns last season, but he also threw more interceptions (30) than anyone since Vinny Testaverde in 1988. The former first overall pick has 88 career interceptions across 72 games. His one-year contract with the Saints is worth only $1.1 million before incentives.
Winston earned a 68.4 passing grade from Pro Football Focus and his 40 turnover worthy plays equaled the most in a single season since 2006. His 4.8 interception rate is the second-worst since 1998 for any quarterback who started all 16 games.
