Cowboys sign quarterback Andy Dalton to a one-year deal
The Dallas Cowboys have signed former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton to a one-year contract.
Dalton didn't spend long as a free agent after the Bengals released him on April 30th. Though it is interesting that he has been reportedly guaranteed $3 million in his new contract while Dak Prescott remains unsigned, Dalton is fully expected to operate as Prescott's backup during the 2020 season.
2019 was certainly a down year for the 32-year-old quarterback, but he should be able to keep the Cowboys' offense moving if he needs to come in for Prescott at any point. Dallas' offensive roster is stacked, and Dalton was in the MVP conversation back in 2015 when he was surrounded by top-tier talent. The Bengals have been in decline since that season, and Dalton's production has mirrored his surroundings.
