Buccaneers re-sign tackle Josh Wells to a one-year deal
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have re-signed offensive tackle Josh Wells to a one-year contract.
The Bucs have been making moves all offseason to ensure new quarterback Tom Brady has all the protection and weapons he could want. The team drafted stud left tackle Tristan Wirfs with the 13th overall pick in the 2020 draft, so Wells is likely just a depth piece at the position.
The Bucs quietly already had one of the best offensive lines in the league last season (especially in the interior), grading out as Pro Football Focus' eighth-best unit in the league. Wells graded out as one of the worst tackles in the league in his brief appearances in 2019, but consistency and depth do hold some value in a league that always seems to be struggling to protect its passers.
