Bills' season comes down to quarterback Josh Allen

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott believes the team's season is in Josh Allen's hands.

What It Means:

"How the quarterback goes is usually how the team goes," McDermott said on sports radio. The Bills have made the playoffs in two of the last three seasons, but Allen's erratic play has at times held the team back. Buffalo's defense allowed the second-fewest points in the league in 2019 and finished the season 10-6, but Allen couldn't muster up enough offense to overcome the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round.

Allen is always an exciting player to watch, but needs to develop as a passer before the Bills can truly become contenders. He added just 0.03 Net Expected Points per pass attempt last season (27th among qualifying passers) and graded out as PFF's 29th-ranked quarterback on the season. Allen did improve on his rookie season, but will need to take a significant leap forward in 2020.
