Colts decline fifth-year option on Malik Hooker
The Indianapolis Colts have declined safety Malik Hooker's fifth-year team option.
Hooker was an exciting one-year starter out of Ohio State when he was drafted back in 2017, but has had difficulty staying on the field. He has dealt with at least three separate knee injuries, as well as foot and hand injuries since entering the league.
Hooker hasn't exactly impressed when he has been on the field, though it is fair to wonder how much his injuries have held him back. He has allowed over 14 yards per target when targeted in coverage in each of the past two seasons, and graded out as Pro Football Focus' 37th overall safety in 2019. Hopefully he can stay healthy for all of the 2020 season and get back to his collegiate ball-hawking ways.
