Eagles reportedly interested in Carlos Hyde

The Philadelphia Eagles are interested in free agent running back Carlos Hyde, previously of the Houston Texans, according to NFL insider Adam Caplan.

What It Means:

"They want to sign a veteran running back," Caplan said. "The guy that I know they have some interest in, and we’ll see if it happens, is a guy that’s really, really talented ... The Eagles, I’m told, have interest in him ... I’m told Hyde is a guy they’re targeting." Hyde would likely see work as an early-down grinder, a role that yielded Jordan Howard 11.9 carries per game in the Eagles' offense last season. Miles Sanders is currently projected for a three-down role, but the addition of Hyde would put a damper on that outlook. Boston Scott would also lose any fantasy appeal he's currently carrying. Hyde is coming off his first 1,000-yard rushing campaign, but the 2014 second-rounder also logged a career-high 245 carries and turns 30 in September. The Eagles would be Hyde's sixth team in the past four seasons.

Hyde averaged 9.3 FanDuel points (RB39) and 69.5 yards per game with 6 touchdowns last season. Despite the aforementioned career-highs, Hyde ranked 26th in yards per carry (4.4), 51st in yards per target (2.6), 41st in yards per touch (4.4), and 29th in yards after contact per attempt (2.2) out of 51 running backs with at least 100 touches last season.
