Texans sign Jonathan Greenard to rookie contract
The Houston Texans signed third-round rookie outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard to a 4-year contract.
Greenard was a two-year starting edge rusher at Louisville and Florida who earned first-team All-SEC honors as a redshirt senior. He had 52 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, 1 interception, and 3 forced fumbles in 12 starts for the Gators last year. It remains to be seen if Greenard will be able to contribute immediately.
Per Pro Football Focus, Greenard graded above 87.0 in run defense and pass-rushing last season. He earned a grade of 90.4 overall.
