Jonathan Taylor signs deal with Colts
The Indianapolis Colts signed second-round rookie running back Jonathan Taylor to a four-year contract.
Taylor is expected to replace Marlon Mack as the Colts' lead back this season, though head coach Frank Reich has indicated the team will go with a committee approach. Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan wrote Friday morning that he projects Taylor to average 15 carries a game, compared to 12 for Mack. The latter is entering the final year of his contract, so it won't be surprising if Taylor seizes more of the workload as the season progresses.
Taylor is the RB24 and Mack is the RB31 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models project Taylor for 212.02 carries (13.3 per game), 901.9 rushing yards, 16.3 receptions, 135.2 receiving yards, and 17.2 touchdowns as a rookie. Mack is expected to see 10.8 carries per game.
