Ezekiel Elliott set to benefit from Cowboys' spread
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott could benefit from the addition of first-round rookie wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, writes Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.
Lamb will serve as an upgrade over Randall Cobb in "11" personnel (one running back, one tight end, three wide receivers), which the Cowboys ran 67.3 percent of the time last year, the sixth-highest rate in the league. Elliott yielded a robust 5.1 yards per carry out of that formation, fifth-highest among the 23 players with at least 80 eligible carries. He also led the league in rushing yards (823) from 11 personnel. Lamb is considered a superior blocker to Cobb and should be able to create even more space for Elliott to run out of the Cowboys' preferred formation.
numberFire's models project Zeke for 1,284.0 rushing yards, 399.8 receiving yards, 51.8 receptions, and 13.2 touchdowns in 2020. He's the RB3 in our preseason fantasy rankings. Elliott had at least 15 opportunities in every game last year and doesn't have a game with fewer than 13 opportunities in his entire career.
