Raiders release cornerback Nick Nelson
The Las Vegas Raiders have released cornerback Nick Nelson.
The 2018 fourth-round pick had difficulty getting on the field in 2019 despite playing for arguably the worst passing defense in the league (the Raiders allowed a whopping 8.8 adjusted yards per pass attempt in 2019). Nelson was a product of longtime Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie's final draft with the team before they officially hired Mike Mayock.
Nelson did see some play in his rookie 2018 season, but it wasn't pretty; he allowed 307 yards and 10.2 yards per target in limited snaps, despite playing primarily in the slot. He'll have to try to catch on with another team in 2020.
