49ers' Raheem Mostert bulking up this offseason
San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert said he's "put on some more muscle" in order to better handle a 200-carry workload this season.
Mostert held up pretty well on 190 carries last year, postseason included, as he averaged 5.8 yards per carry and totaled 1,108 rushing yards with 13 touchdowns. More than half of those carries (117) came in the 49ers' eight contests from Week 13 through the Super Bowl. Mostert and Tevin Coleman are expected to share early-down work in 2020, but Matt Breida's departure leaves 123 attempts for the taking.
Mostert is the RB18 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models project him for 219.0 carries, 972.7 rushing yards, 27.6 receptions, 217.8 receiving yards, and 9.8 touchdowns. Mostert added 0.14 Rushing Net Expected Points per play last season, most in the NFL among 45 backs with 100-plus carries.
