Chargers' Tyrod Taylor projected as Week 1 starter
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor "will almost certainly be the Week 1 starter" according to The Athletic's Daniel Popper.
Despite the selection of quarterback Justin Herbert with the 6th overall pick in this year's draft, Taylor is expected to open the season as the starter. Entering his ninth season, it appears as if Taylor will begin the season as a starting quarterback for the first time since leaving Buffalo. The 30-year-old only played a total of 31 snaps for the Chargers last season but was Pro Football Focus' 9th ranked quarterback during his last full season in 2017, earning a grade of 80.
numberFire's models project Taylor for 157 completions on 257 attempts for 1,665 yards, 8.92 touchdowns, and 5.2 interceptions, with 41 carries for 190 yards. He is the QB32 in their preseason projections.
