Dolphins reportedly believe Tua Tagovailoa could see rookie snaps
Miami Dolphins first-round rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa could earn playing time as a rookie, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald via a source who spoke to the Dolphins' front office.
Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to open the year as the Dolphins' starter, but per Jackson, "Miami isn’t opposed to playing Tagovailoa as a rookie if he earns the opportunity at some point this season." Assuming Fitzpatrick doesn't have the Dolphins in serious playoff contention, it seems conceivable that Tagovailoa could take over as the starter after the Week 11 bye.
Tua was an elite college prospect, averaging 12.7 adjusted yards per attempt in his three seasons at Alabama while throwing 87 touchdowns to just 11 interceptions in the SEC. His Pro Football Focus grade of 90.3 in 2019 ranked 10th in the nation and was his second consecutive season with a grade above 90.
