49ers' Trent Taylor (foot) running, cutting
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Trent Taylor is running routes and making cuts while working out with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and other teammates.
“I’m back to doing all my normal stuff,” Taylor said. “I don’t know if you would say that I’m ready to go out and play a football game. I mean, I could if I had to." Taylor was expected to be the 49ers' starting slot receiver in 2019 before suffering a preseason foot injury. He wound up undergoing five operations due to an infection, so it's great to hear the 2017 fifth-rounder is returning to form. Taylor will likely have to compete with Kendrick Bourne and Jalen Hurd for snaps behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
Taylor has 69 career receptions for 645 yards and 3 touchdowns on 100 targets. His 6.4 yards per target ranks 101st out of 107 receivers with at least 100 combined targets since the start of the 2017 season.
